Helping your child at home
Helping your child with their earning can be a daunting task. The teachers at Wood End Academy are always here for advice and help. Contact your child’s class teacher or the school office to arrange an appointment or ask for support.
As you are aware we are keen to promote a healthy lifestyle in school and to encourage healthy eating. In London 37% of all children are obese or overweight. Being overweight can lead to many problems for children, emotional as well as medical and so it is important that we try and address this problem, although we are aware that it is not always easy choosing a healthier lifestyle.
The two main reasons that children’s weight is increasing, is a change in diet which normally means eating and drinking more food and drink high in fat and sugar and decreased levels of physical activity.
We have listed below a few websites which you may find helpful for ideas for meals and packed lunches and help on a healthier lifestyle:
Please also remember that if you have any concerns about your child’s health, not just related to healthy eating, then please do come and see Jane Barnes, our School Nurse. She works every Tuesday, but messages can also be left for her at any time and she will contact you.
